Hype around Arbitrum: final figures of the week

This week, the Arbitrum project, a layer 2 solution on Ethereum, made a lot of hype with its token giveaway. Totally ordinary people are making thousands (some say even tens of thousands) of dollars on this giveaway by selling this generous airdrop.

The buidlbee team has collected figures and facts of this brightest and most successful as of early 2023 airdrop.

The Price of Popularity

Trading of this native token was launched yesterday, March 23, preceded by an airdrop, which is continuing right now. Let's list all major exchanges where $ARB was listed yesterday and where trading in it is now available: Bybit, Mexc, Kucoin, Bitfinex, Kraken, Huobi, OKX, Binance.

Due to low liquidity, $ARB traded above $10 in the first hour, but during the day the price dropped about 80%, and now $ARB is trading at $1.45.

Besides ordinary people, the market makers also made good money on the rush of demand around Arbitrum. The liquidity providers made about $600,000 in profit only for the first few hours. For example, in the liquidity pool of the ARB/ETH pair, the daily trading volume was about $200 million, which brought $552,000 in commissions to liquidity providers.

This indicates high demand and high intensity of trading, at least during the first days of trading.

Current status

• At the moment, 75% of the Airdrop tokens have already been distributed, and most of them have already been sold.

• At least 53% of the volume of issued tokens is in the hands of big players, such as whales, funds, etc., who are now trying to accumulate them.

• Nearly 240,000 addresses (37%) still have to get their Arbitrum tokens, worth about $596 million.

Network metrics also show extraordinary activity on the blockchain itself:

• Network activity reached a new all-time high of 2.7 million transactions on March 23 — doubling that of the Ethereum (ETH) mainnet.

According to L2 Beats data, the total value of assets locked (TVL) on Arbitrum has increased to $5.95 billion, an increase of 62%.

The Voyager queue for the 2nd Trip will open via a link from the official Twitter account. A Voyager's place in the line is determined by when they clicked the "Launch" button on the site. Yuga Labs’ ApeCoin (APE) token price, Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC), and Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs floor prices have not reacted to the news yet. Otherdeed for Otherside (OTHR) also showed no growth, and the floor price remains at 1.518967 ETH (about $2,710).
