Highlights from this weekend and July 17:
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will consider six applications to register spot bitcoin ETFs.
Max pumped Dogecoin (DOGE) again with his tweet. Pumps are getting smaller and smaller.
Kaiko research: XRP accounted for 21% of global crypto trade volume, surpassing BTC and ETH.
EXMO will delist seven cryptos on July 20: CRON, WAVES, BTG, XEM, DCR, ZEC, and DASH.
Gnosis has announced the launch of Gnosis Pay and the Gnosis Card debit card, allowing cryptocurrency users to use stablecoins to make everyday purchases via Visa Wallet.
Mantle Network, supported by Bybit, announced the official launch.
↔ Big politics, crypto, and the breath of 2024
If the week before last was a week of market euphoria over the ETF filing, last week belongs to the court victory of XRP. The XRP ruling, while not completely shutting down the risk of new attacks from the SEC, does set an important precedent for the fight to follow.
Speaking more generally about the roots, the problem with the crypto market is not the SEC, but Democrats, who at various levels of government have repeatedly stated their aggressive attitude towards crypto. Given the record low electoral rating of the current U.S. president, it seems that much more important than the victory of XRP will be the U.S. elections in 2024. In this regard, the Republicans coming into government could change the game dramatically.
In 2024, we will also know the result of the approval or rejection of the ETF application. In 2024, we will also see the Bitcoin halving, probably one of the major events in the crypto world. Thus, 2024 becomes a truly sacred year because several major decisions about the fate of the crypto world will converge on it.
🕑 Binance: the results of 6 years of development
The largest crypto exchange in the world, Binance, turned 6 years old today. There is good and bad news on this occasion.
Binance plans to lay off between 1,500 and 3,000 employees, according to CNBC. According to the Wall Street Journal, however, Binance plans to lay off 1,000 employees in the coming months.
Obviously, the exchange is not entering the most favorable period of its life; along with the fall in trading volumes and the loss of significant market share, the staff of the exchange is also being reduced. All this was caused by a legal attack from the US authorities, which was supported by some other countries.
But there is some good news. On the occasion of the anniversary of the exchange, CZ gave a lecture in which he summarized the development of Binance quite optimistically, noting the great progress. Below are the main talking points:
At the time of launch, Binance supported only five tokens and two languages; now it hosts more than 600 cryptocurrencies.
Binance currently has 140 million users, 2.4 million Binance Card holders, and 11.9 million customers of the Binance Earn staking service. Binance Labs has invested in over 200 projects.
CZ also noted the arrival of institutional investors in the form of BlackRock, Valkyrie, and Fidelity, calling it a test of maturity for the entire crypto industry.

In a brief analysis, the analysts pay attention to the possible growth of this asset, highlighting the following factors for the start of its active growth:
A surge in NFT activity. A couple of days ago, we wrote that Solana came out on top for the first time ever in terms of NFT selling.
A possible reason for this is given by the reported surge of SOL discussions on social networks, mainly on Reddit.
Santiment also notes that Solana is one of the leaders among blockchain developer activity rankings (although this activity is gradually decreasing in 2023).
As a conclusion, analysts are cautiously optimistic about a good entry point into this asset right now if the emerging growth trend continues.
